CBT Motorcycle Course For Novice Riders

A1 permits you to ride a scooter or small motorcycle, and also take the pillion ride of a passenger when you are 17 or older.

A two-day course that doesn't require any tests. This is a great first introduction to riding. It focuses on re-learning the fundamental components of a bicycle, as well as slow exercises for controlling.

Compulsory basic training (CBT)

CBT is the very first course that all riders who are new to riding must attend. It usually takes a whole day to complete. If you achieve an acceptable level by the end of the course, your instructor will award you the DL196 certificate of completion.

During this training you will be taught the basics of operating on a motorcycle. You will be supervised by an experienced instructor throughout the course of the day. You'll also receive a short theory session which will teach you about the highway code and road rules and safe and safe lane positioning. You'll be taught how to check and maintain your bike, and also how to carry a pillion (if applicable).

The next element of the CBT is a practical on-site riding. Your instructor will create an area that is safe in which you can practice your skills. You will start off slowly and work through basic safety checks prior to moving off and stopping the bike and braking properly. Your trainer will be in contact with you throughout this time and will assist you until they feel confident that you've completed the exercises to a safe level.

In this portion of the training, you'll be introduced to different types of roads and traffic conditions. You'll learn to safely navigate roundabouts, traffic lights and one-way streets. You'll also be taught the basics of cornering and how to carry out figures of 8 and emergency stops.

This is the final portion of the CBT. Your instructor will take you on different roads. You'll be in contact with your instructor, who will monitor your progress at all times. You'll receive the CBT DL196 Certificate when you are able to prove that you can operate a motorbike and handle various road situations.

Although it has been around for some time in the past, CBT is still a vital part of the motorcycling experience and we continue to see significant improvements in accident statistics since its inception. It is important to choose a school that provides comprehensive CBT to ensure you are prepared and ready for the world of two-wheeled driving.

Module 1 Theory Test

The first step to getting an A1 license is passing the motorcycle test in theory. This is a 40-minute test that tests your knowledge of traffic rules, road signs, and general safety. It is highly recommended that you read the Highway Code before taking this test to maximize your chances of passing.

On the day following your CBT you will begin your first module of training. You will be riding a bicycle that is suitable for your category of licence. If you're looking for an A1 it will be an A1 Honda Monkey. The course will include plenty of off-road balance as well as control exercises to prepare you for the necessary moves on the module 1 test. You will also visit a DVSA test center to get familiar with the marking procedures and procedures associated with each test.

After completing your training, you'll be able to pass your module 1 test at a DVSA-approved motorcycle test center. You'll need your CBT certificate, along with a valid passport or photocard driving license.

After passing Module 1, you will move on to the Module 2 practical test that is conducted on the road. The examiner will take you on a short ride around the neighborhood and you'll have 35 minutes to complete the test independently. The examiner is assessing your ability to multitask while following road signs and will require to see you demonstrate excellent driving skills.

After passing both Module 1 and Module 2 you will be able enjoy the freedom that comes with an A1 light license. This will allow you to ride a bicycle up to 125cc, without a learner's licence, and will eliminate the requirement to display your L-plates. A1 licenses also permit you to ride with a passenger and you won't have to go through the CBT every 2 years. This is a fantastic option for those looking to enjoy the thrill of motorcycling. The next step after an A1 licence is an A license that is not restricted and requires a full driving license.

Module 2 Practical Test

After you've completed Module 1 and your theoretical test, you're now able to take the practical part of your motorcycle licence - Module 2. This test will award you an A1 licence which allows you to ride a motorcycle that is 125cc or larger with power of up to 11 BHP. You are also able to take a ride on motorways and transport a passenger.

The Mod 2 test is a practical riding test with approximately 10 minutes of uninvolved riding. During this, the examiner will follow you on a predetermined route that will be subject to traffic and road conditions. The route is crowded with junctions, roundabouts, and dual carriageways. You'll need to be able to ride in various conditions.

Module 2 will test your ability to observe, anticipate and navigate busy roads. This is vital as it allows you to make quick decisions while driving on the road. For example, if you're driving along the road and see a car swerving towards your lane, you'll need to be able to react quickly.

You'll also be expected to demonstrate good slow control and be able to pull away smoothly and stop in a safe manner and maintain speed. You should also be able demonstrate effective braking, and execute an uncontrolled U-turn when necessary.

You'll also be assessed on how well you can signal and change gear. You will be asked to signal prior to overtaking another vehicle, and when leaving an intersection, and switch gears when necessary.

After passing both the parts of the Module 2, you will be issued a letter confirming your A1 licence. You can then ride your new bike with style and comfort in the countryside, or to work. If you decide to ride a supermoto or scooter or a supermoto, your new A1 license will open the door to freedom, adventure and excitement.
